BPPC  - Our Role in Bishopton Primary School
To assist the school by raising funds to enhance the education, experience & environment for all pupils.
Our aim is to help with the provision of additional facilities, equipment, activities and events to improve the primary educational experience for the children within the school.
 
Purpose of Parent's Council
The Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 gives parents the right to receive information about their children's education and to be represented and have their views expressed through the Parent Council.
 
Main Functions are:
  • Support the school in its work with pupils and parents
  • Represent the views of parents
  • Promote contact and communication between the school, parents, pupils, the community, nursery and other providers
  • Report to the Parent Forum.
 OBJECTIVES 2011 / 2012 
  • Update and refresh Secret Garden for pupils
  • Revitalise hand print wall with all current pupils
  • Additional benches/decking for picnic paradise
  • Co-ordinate fun events to embrace & engage wider community
  • Co-ordinate fundraising events
  • Identify new initiatives to show partnership with School & Parent Council
  • Interface with parents /school identifying any opportunities / issues /concerns.
ACHIEVEMENTS  2010 / 2011
  • Fundraising challenges provided 2 new promethean boards and 6 new PCs
  • Donated to Primary 1 new starts, and provide leaving gifts for P7 and donation to Leavers Dance
  • Hosted community events - Halloween Party, Pamper Night,Bag Pack, Christmas Fayre, Family Fun Night, Bishopton Day activities.
  • Highlighted concerns of parents to appropriate bodies, and highlighted successes - re changes to school hours.
  • Built key relationships with local papers highlighting achievements &local community groups.
Every parent/guardian with a child at the school is part of the parent forum. We welcome your input & endeavour to answer any questions you have with respect to our role in the school. We need each and everyone of you to be involved and give your support by whatever means possible.
